Mwangi Kimenyi of the Brookings Institution has an interesting opinion piece on “The Significance of Obama’s Meeting with African Leaders at the White House”.

The general public can hear these heads of State (Sierra Leone, Senegal, Cape Verde, and Malawi) speak publicly at USIP this Friday.  I won’t be able to attend but welcome a guest post from someone who can.

This builds on an earlier Obama meeting (and USIP event) with the heads of state of four Francophone west African countries in 2011.  You can read a recap of that USIP event here.
