I must admit to finding the round the clock attention, and the extent of his deification a bit tedious, but Mandela is nonetheless a very inspirational figure.

There will be several events on his 95th birthday, this Thursday in DC.  That morning, Congress will celebrate “the life, legacy and values of Nelson R. Mandela.”  This event seems to be by invitation only.

TransAfrica Forum, which was founded in the late 1970s to combat apartheid in South Africa and minority rule in Rhodesia, will be hosting an event that evening in conjunction with the Embassy of South Africa at the Metropolitan AME church.

I’m curious as to  what type of crowd will turn out for these.
